Greek outpost of Prophet Elias

The Greek outpost of Prophet Elias was built in 1881 by the Greek army to house the soldiers who were responsible for guarding and controlling the borders of the section of Prophet Elias.

Location and mission of the outpost

The point of the outpost was a point of passage for those entering from the Hellenic State to the Turkish State and from the Turkish State to the Hellenic State.

Those coming from Megalo Eleftherochori, passed the customs office, the Hellenic Station, descended from Valomantri to the Prophet Ilias outpost and passing under Agios Dimitrios reached Grizano. The opposite happened when they left.
